If you are new to this series, you may be curious on what the series Warriors is.
Warriors is a series written by Erin Hunter. The series are about cats that live in 4 Clans- groups, colonies- and battle each other for territory, stolen prey, etc.. Of course, it's know always this violent. There are very touching moments, but this guide isn't here to name 'em.
Clan names
Clans usually are named after anything. For example, the prefix could be Thunder, but the suffix must be Clan. So, it's ThunderClan.
Names
Warrior names usually start with a prefix such as Fire, Blue, Crow, Squirrel, and end with a suffix such as heart, fur, feather, and flight. So, the names would be Fireheart, Bluefur, Crowfeather, and Squirrelflight. However, the leaders' suffixes end with "star" because they are connected with StarClan- their religion. Apprentices' names end with paw, and kittens' end with kit. In this site, however, the names are completely optional.
StarClan
StarClan is basically the main religion in Warriors. It's basically Heaven. The Hell is the Place of No Stars, or the Dark Forest. Medicine cats- the healer of the Clans- go to visit StarClan every half-moon to recieve prophecies, get visions, etc..
The Clans also have Gatherings, which they all go to every full-moon to talk about news and have a time of peace. If there is a cloud over the moon, the Gathering is over, and the cats believe StarClan is angry with them.
Clan Ranks
Leader- The leader of the Clan. They decide big decisions and get nine lives from StarClan.
Deputy- The second-in-command. They organize patrols, and takes over when the leader dies, retires, or simply resigns.
Medicine Cat- The healers if the Clans. They heal the sick and injured, and also go to the MoonCave to visit StarClan.
Medicine Cat Apprentice- The apprentice of the medicine cats.
Warriors- The civilians of the Clan. They hunt, fight, and basically do all the dirty work for the Clan.
Apprentices- The warrior apprentices. Kits become apprentices at 6 moons, and apprentices become warriors at 12 moons.
Queens- The mothers of the Clan that are caring for kittens.
Kits- The kittens of the Clan.
Elders- Retired warriors. When a Clan member dies, the elders have to bury the Clan member the next morning.
Customs
According to the Clan Code, kittens, queens, and elders must eat before anyone else. When a kit comes of age, the leader would call the Clan to gather for a ceremony. He/she would recite an old saying, then give the kitten their apprentice name and mentor. When an apprentice is legible enough to be a warrior, the leader does the same thing with the kitten and asks the apprentice whether or not they would accept and follow the Warrior Code. The apprentice must say "I do," and then the leader would give them their warrior name. That night, the new warrior must sit guard all night without speaking to anyone.
Warrior Code
The Warrior Code is basically a set of laws for the Clans. In a brief summary, you cannot watch a kitten who is dying or in pain, you must help them. Also, you must help a Clan in need, no matter what. You cannot kill a cat, be a medicine cat and have kits, fight in Gatherings, or trespass in another Clan's territory. The rest of the Warrior Code is in the paragraph above, under Customs.
Tribe Names
Tribe names can also be anything like Clan names, but it must start with "Tribe of." An example is Tribe of Rushing Water.
Names
When you are born in a Tribe, you are given a long name that you keep forever until you become leader. A few examples of names are Grape that Hangs on a Vine, Brook that Flows North, Feather that Falls Slow, etc.. Usually cats are not called by their full name, but by the first word in their name, such as Grape, Brook, or Feather. When you become a leader, you are automatically named Stoneteller.
Tribe of Endless Hunting
This is basically the Tribe's religion. It is like StarClan, but there is no such thing as Gatherings, meetings with the spirits, or any Hell. Stonetellers predict omens from going in a cave or special area by looking at leaves, water, etc..
Tribe Ranks
Stoneteller- The leader and healer of a Tribe, they almost never leave the camp of the Tribe.
Stoneteller's To-Be- The apprentice of the Stoneteller, they become the Stoneteller once their mentor dies.
Cave-Guards- The fighters of the Tribe.
Prey-Hunters- The hunters of the Tribe.
To-Bes- The apprentices of the Tribe.
Kit-Mothers- The mothers of the Tribe.
Kits- The kittens of the Tribe, they become a To-Be at 8 moons.
Elders- The elders of the Tribe.
Customs
Unlike Clan cats, the whole Tribe eats at the same time. They all gather around in a circle and share their meals with another cat, passing it back and forth between the cats. When a kitten is born, the Stoneteller decides whether or not they will be a Prey-Hunter or Cave-Guard. If they are small and skinny, they will be a Prey-Hunter. If they are tall and bulky, the will be a Cave-Guard.
